Alejandro González is concerned about issues such as individual liberties, power and simulation. He is essentially a photographer, but not at all in the traditional sense. He uses photography as a tool to generate works with a solid conceptual structure in tune with the sensibility of contemporary art, especially since winning a scholarship at the Kunsthochschule fur Medien in Koln, Germany, in 2002. His objects have ranged from discriminated minorities in their spaces of comfort to scenes with actors or minutely models constructed at his studio. In his most recent works, he resorts to metaphors that explore universals and timeless conflicts.
